This piece is one of several mixed-media pieces I’ve been developing on the back of my earlier printmaking work. I needed to wait till my painting skills caught up with my printing ones! Having been printmaking and etching for over 20 years it is satisfying to finally realise a vision I had for the work years ago, with painted details.

Having Nest Behaviour selected for the finalist’s exhibition for WAMA Art Prize is such an honour. The WAMA ART PRIZE, Works on Paper, is a $25,000 biennial national award in excellence. Inviting a multi-disciplinary range of nature-inspired Australian artists, the award celebrates connection with nature and raises awareness of the importance of conserving our precious, unique Australian environment.
