Some close-ups of some of the characters in my picture book Perhaps. They are shown here as lo-res photos of the paintings, without any of the digital processes necessary to take them to the final print stage. These are all produced in acrylic with some oils touch up at the end. I’ve chosen a more realistic approach over the usual caricatured illustrations in picture books because I like how kids interact with them as if they’re real. I’m currently revisiting both the writing and the illustrations as my process has evolved somewhat since I began. The badger and rabbit above have undergone this modification.
