Gothic Remnant

from $1,500.00

Solarplate photogravure etching using Gamblin Inks on 350gm etching paper.

Part of my architectural abstract series. Having lived in London for 15 years I was always struck by the forced relationships of different eras of architecture. History eating itself. As with most countries with long histories of building in the same location over hundreds if not thousands of years, the mish-mash of buildings must affect the people that live amongst them. History is obviously everywhere but our buildings are perhaps the most obvious reminder that we live in it. Of all my prints this one was the most technically challenging. Achieving a consistent black with the technology of photogravure at the time was extremely difficult and took 4 attempts at making the plate and the assistance of numerous members of the printmaking community in Melbourne to help me to get there.

Image Size: 38cm H x 44cm W Framing and mounting would add about 30cm to each of these measurements.

Shipping of original artworks (paintings, mixed media and etchings) outside of the Inner Melbourne Metro utilise the professional art courier service of Pack and Send. Delivery schedules may vary but is generally less than 7 business days to metro and regional centres.

Care for works on paper: protect them from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading, brittleness, and mold, ideally keeping them in a stable environment. Avoid walls susceptible to condensation.
