Solarplate photogravure etching using Gamblin Inks on 350gm etching paper.
Part of my architectural abstract series. Inspired by the Morlocks in HG Wells’ The Time Machine. My naming of this piece Moorlock instead of Morlock came from an idea that the surface of this world (the part not occupied by the Eloi that is) would be like the moors, desolate, bleak and still beautiful. I think if I were to do this again I might do it as a sequence, where the entrance on the moors would be found.
“in the end, above ground you must have the Haves, pursuing pleasure and comfort and beauty, and below ground the Have-nots, the Workers getting continually adapted to the conditions of their labour.”
Image Size: 33.5cm H 22.5cm W Framing and mounting would add about 15-20cm to each of these measurements.
Shipping of original artworks (paintings, mixed media and etchings) outside of the Inner Melbourne Metro utilise the professional art courier service of Pack and Send. Delivery schedules may vary but is generally less than 7 business days to metro and regional centres.
Care for works on paper: protect them from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading, brittleness, and mold, ideally keeping them in a stable environment. Avoid walls susceptible to condensation.
